Sea Wind 24

Boat tied perpendicular to dock for lowering the mast onto the land side support.

Mast down with top end resting on the support.

Top of mast showing the land side support.  I then moved the support lower so I could easily remove the mast from the boat and carry it to the work area near my shop.

View from the deck with mast down on the land side support.  This time I left the sail on the boom.  Note the jib furler tied to the side of the boom.
The rebuilt masthead ready to raise.

New masthead with main raised.  Note the block added for the oversized asymmetrical spinnaker and the wires and studs to keep birds off.
One of my unsuccessful attempts to break the center bolt free in the rotator base.  I left it under axial and rotational pressure while gone for two weeks.  An acetylene torch and four foot breaker bar finally worked. Rotator parts ready for assembly.

Rotator parts ready for assembly.  Note the small hole I drilled in the side of the base (and the mast) to allow the center bolt to be lubed with the mast up. Rotator parts ready for assembly.

Assembled rotator viewed from the bottom.  I screwed the center bolt into the bottom piece far enough to just clear the step pin when installed on the boat. Assembled rotator viewed from the top.  Note that the washer under the bolt head is loose as it was when I disassembled the unit.
